چکیده
The first true common volume observations of the PMSE source region with 4 radars are presented in this paper. Radar frequencies 8, 56, 224, and 930 MHz used study. Three days experimental at EISCAT presented. Numerical simulations mesospheric dusty/ice plasma associated observed radar effect neutral air turbulence on generation strength density perturbations using four presence various dust parameters is investigated. Using model it shown that well-known heavy particles combined (dusty turbulence) can largely explain cross-section frequencies. amplitude along charging diffusion investigated computational model. Specifically, response to time scales, fluctuation background dusty discussed. Several key responsible for determined. Qualitative comparison echo numerical results provided. Unlike previous studies required large 20 nm formation, present work demonstrates possibility small observations.

Polar Mesosphere Summer Radar Echoes: Observations and Current Theories
The remarkably strong radar echoes from the summer polar mesosphere have been an enigma to atmospheric and radar scientists since their discovery more than a decade ago. Since then, more sophisticated radar experiments and in situ rocket measurements have shed some light on the underlying physics and chemistry, and theories have been formulated to explain the generation of the intense radar bac...

متن کاملDiscovery of a Water Vapor Layer in the Arctic Summer Mesosphere: Implications for Polar Mesospheric Clouds
We report the discovery of a layer of enhanced water vapor in the Arctic summer mesosphere that was made utilizing two new techniques for remotely determining water vapor abundances. The first utilizes Middle Atmosphere High Resolution Spectrograph Investigation (MAHRSI) OH measurements as a proxy for water vapor. The second is a reanalysis of Halogen Occultation Experiment (HALOE) water vapor ...
متن کاملPolar mesosphere summer echoes during the July 2000 solar proton event
The influence of the solar proton event (SPE) 14– 16 July 2000 on Polar Mesosphere Summer Echoes (PMSE) is examined. PMSE were observed by the Esrange VHF MST Radar (ESRAD) at 6753 N, 2106 E. The 30 MHz Imaging Riometer for Ionospheric Studies IRIS in Kilpisjärvi (6930 N, 2047 E) registered cosmic radio noise absorption caused by ionisation changes in response to the energetic particle precipit...
متن کاملPolar mesosphere summer echoes (PMSE): review of observations and current understanding
Polar mesosphere summer echoes (PMSE) are very strong radar echoes primarily studied in the VHF wavelength range from altitudes close to the polar summer mesopause. Radar waves are scattered at irregularities in the radar refractive index which at mesopause altitudes is effectively determined by the electron number density. For efficient scatter, the electron number density must reveal structur...
